  • Abstract The main objective of this study is to analyze the thermal strain and the behavior of ground process frost heave for freezing method applied to tunnel construction. The simulated case is the ground freezing test carried out in National Yunlin University of Science and Technology. A finite element simulation model has been established according to in-situ condition with the temperature distribution of the heat transfer as the thermal loading. Additionally, a simplified mechanical model was established and applied to mechanical analysis in this study. The computer package ABAQUS is used for thermal stress analysis to study the behavior of frost heave of frozen soil.
