  • Abstract According to the references, the content of heavy metal in the
    fly ash generated during incineration probably exceeds the
    standard limit. Pelletization sintering method has the ability
    to seal heavy metal and the potential of resource reuse. This
    study takes advantage of pelletization sintering method, and
    controls the condition at different pelletization pressure,
    sintering temperature and sintering time to discuss the effect
    of sealing heavy metal and the feasibility of resource reuse
    for fly ash. A three-factorial experimt was designed in the
    study. The experimental condition for pelletization pressure,
    temperature and sintering time is 2000-5000psi, 1100-1140 deg C
    , 0-1hr, respectively. The results show that the green body has
    the dense phenomenen when sintering temperature is from
    1120-1140 deg C. That is, the compression strength for the
    green body increases. At the temperature of 1140 deg C, obvious
    sintering phenomenon occurs. The interaction of sintering time
    and sintering temperature has great influence on the
    compression strength, volumn reduction rate, moisture rate and
    the residual and leaching concentration of Pb, Cd, Cr for the
    green body. The pelletization pressure has greater influence
    on the physical properties, such as compression strength,
    moiture content, etc.. From the heavy metal residual
    concentration test, it's found that a sintering phase would
    occur in the surface of green body during the high-temperature
    sintering process, which means the heavy metal in the sintering
    body can't escape, and the effect of sealing heavy metal could
    be reached. In the heavy metal leaching test, the leaching
    concentrations for Pb, Cd, Cr are 0.1-0.7mg/l, 0.05-0.3mg/l and
    0.35-1.25mg/l respectively, which means the leaching
    concentrations are all below the standard criteria. In the
    compression strength test, the partial green bodies sintered at
    140 deg C fulfill standard compression criteria, and have the
    potential for resource development.
