  • Abstract The present study concentrated on the concentric glass
    evacuated tubular solar collectors with coating selective
    absorber stainless steel tube insertion. The collector has been
    developed by Industrial Technology Research Institue. We will
    construct a theoretical model, by means of some numerical
    modulations and analysis, the correlated parameters affected
    the system and the thermal efficiencies will also be studied in
    order to increase the efficiency of the system for further
    developments. A new model has been developed in considered upon
    the radiation. Traditionally, an opaque surface was applied.
    While in the present paper a semi-transparent surface, which is
    more suitable to the real system, is used. By using 'ray
    tracing' energy consideration, radiation is reconsiderd, where
    the transparent term is added. The results matched with that of
    experiment well. The results show some facts: 1) the necessity
    of the evacuated region, which is positive effect for system
    thermal efficiency; 2) the demand of volume flow rate with
    respect to situations, where volume flow rate effects the
    efficiency and outlet temperature; 3) high solar absorptivity
    of coating absorber, which gives a higher efficiency, however,
    thermal emissivity is low as possible.
